Flax seeds and all.
Dr. Sear's assistant spoke at our MOPS group this morning.
I'm rethinking what I put into my kids' bodies.
There's a sickly amount of sugar in those products we buy at the store.
1 in 3 kids that were born after 2000 will develop cancer in their lives.
The reason is...diet.
So, ambitiously, this is our new breakfast drink.

I wouldn't worry to much. Most of those statistics are for children that are obese. Plus it's not hard at all to reduce sugar in kids diets, I've done it with my own 3 as well. The key is moderation.
(I work with people that are obese or just need health products and have learned A LOT about it all)

I actually think that you SHOULD be paying close attention to what you feed your kids, like you said you were going to try to. There is sugar in a LOT LOT LOT of store bought stuff, and in my opinion, I think we should try to feed them as healthily (is that a word?) as we can, while we can, because before we know it they'll be outta the house and eating whatever they want...but maybe not if we train them well. :) btw...that breakfast shake sounds pretty good actually!!
I am such a fan of Dr. Sears! Smoothies are a breakfast staple at my house.
Those are some eye-opening statistics. That's why as moms, we have to take the time not only to feed our kids right but to educate them on diet/nutrition.
One day they'll get it.
I think in another 20 years... we will find out more and more that we ARE what we EAT... TOTALLY!
P.S. I like the new template. Very cute! ~ jb///
those statistics are scary!
the statistics are frightening. what stinks is that every research study seems to contradict the other. sigh.
calebs on flaxseed now. we also took out most of his sugar. and hes on organic milk now. big changes but i can see a difference in his behavior already... and its only been a week.
